The Local Grocery Store Owner

When I lived in south Minneapolis a number of years ago, the nearest convenience store was owned by a Muslim man. He was generally quite friendly, but one day he was steamed. He started ranting about how the Americans had done so little for the Muslims in Bosnia. I was taken aback by the audacity of this man's outburst and said to him, "Well, from your point of view we might not have done enough, but how much assistance did they receive from their Muslim brothers and sisters throughout the world, and from the oil rich Muslim countries? America saved them, while their brothers and sisters stood on the sidelines and did nothing."

It's probably no surprise that my friend did not like what I had to say. But I wondered, if he had so much hatred for America, why was he here, earning a decent living and being able to express himself freely?
